ODEON Cinema Building in Chester
Chester Civic Trust supports bringing the Odeon building back into use. This fine Grade II listed building built in 1936 is a splendid example of Odeon Art Deco and sits on an important site at the North end of the Town Hall Square.
Cheshire West and Chester Council has purchased the building and is developing this site and the adjacent Commerce House, Folliet House and 49 Northgate Street sites as a cultural venue including a theatre and cinema screens. Current proposals would see the building back in use by 2015.
The prime Art Deco features will be preserved.
