Heritage Open Days which this year runs from 8 to 11 September celebrates England’s fantastic architecture and culture by offering free access to properties that are usually closed to the public or normally charge for admission.

Chester Civic Trust works in partnership with Cheshire West and Chester Council, and with building owners and managers, to open properties of every age, type and size in the local area.

It is a once-a-year chance to discover hidden architectural treasures and enjoy a wide range of tours, events and activities which bring to life local history and culture

Free of charge and literally on people’s doorstep, Heritage Open Days is an event for everyone, whatever their background, age and ability.

Co-ordinated nationally by English Heritage, the event thrives on the enthusiasm and expertise of local people. We work closely with the local authority to make it a memorable celebration and incidentally, a contribution to England’s largest voluntary cultural event.

Nearer the date leaflets will be delivered to local libraries, visitor information points and many other locations. From May onwards further information will be made available on the Cheshire West web site.
